SELECTED PROJECTS
Independent/PBS Foreign Exchange, Producer, 2008-present
Conceptualized, researched and wrote proposal for a documentary about climate change refugees. Pitched and received the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting Fellowship. Produced a 7-week shoot in Papua New Guinea. Traveled to remote areas of the South Pacific Ocean to interview refugees and to shoot verité scenes including rarely documented ceremonies. Wrote script and edited documentary segment that aired on PBS’s Foreign Exchange. The Carteret Islanders, Air date: 1/16/09. Developing long-format documentary expanding on the themes covered in the short film: Sun Come Up

Periskope TV/NOVA, Co-Producer, 2008
Produced a science series – the final installment of an Emmy-nominated 20-year project that has tracked the lives and careers of seven Harvard medical students for WGBH/NOVA.  Researched medical topics and worked closely with director to develop story lines and character points. Interviewed doctors and directed scenes. Supervised production team and used organizational skills to keep the fast-paced schedule on track. Doctors’ Diaries, Air date: 4/07/09-4/14/09

Entropy Films/Bill Moyers Journal, Producer, 2007
Consulting producer for a film about faith that aired on the Bill Moyers Journal. Worked closely with director on creative content during post-production. Performed extensive research, conducted pre-interviews, and wrote a proposal for a documentary about Islam. Produced a shoot in Jordan, interviewing Islamic scholars and political leaders. Coordinated travel and shooting logistics and managed an international crew. Hired and supervised translators, production crew, and office personnel. Beyond Our Differences, Air Date: 12/12/08

Talkback Thames/Discovery Channel, Field Producer/Camera, 2007
Produced an observational documentary series for the Discovery Channel. Filmed and interviewed doctors and patients, closely following the emergency room doctors from first patient contact through critical care. Managed production logistics and legal consents in sensitive and fast-paced environment. 911: The Bronx, Air dates: 5/08-6/08

BBC New York/TLC, Field Producer/Camera/Segment Editor, 2006

Researched and developed storylines and characters, interviewed and filmed characters and verité scenes, coordinated production logistics, and edited sequences for three episodes of a lighthearted character-driven series about moving and home renovation for TLC. Conceptualized and pitched nature series for future development. Moving Up, series started airing in early ‘07

Civilian Studios/PBS, Producer/Camera/Editor, 2004-2005
Produced, filmed, and edited short documentaries for broadcast and educational distribution. The educational documentary From Depression to Discovery won the Chicago Film Festival Silver Hugo Award,  Bronze Telly Award and was a finalist for the Freddie Award (Producer’s credit, 2005). New York Kids: A Subway Ride Through Childhood, PBS Air date: 12/06 (second camera and segment editor).

DCTV, Instructor, 2006-Present
Teach several documentary workshops including story development, interview techniques, and research. Researched and developed curriculum for Interviewing for Camera. Conduct and supervise demonstrations with cameras, lights, and sound equipment.

M.S. degree, 2007.
Traveled to Kabul, Afghanistan for master’s project reporting on an organization that uses circus to educate, entertain, and embolden Afghan youth. Invited to lead discussion with U.S. high school students about Afghanistan on C-Span. Interview aired Friday, April 13, 2007.

B.A. degree, 2003. Major in Environmental Studies. Graduated magna cum laude, named to Sigma Xi, and received the Lucy Brand Allen Prize for an exceptional student of natural history.
